Rob Boyns
Co-leader of the team. Rob is a family man and endurance athlete, he hopes to co-lead our team to Endure, Engage, Educate and Enjoy and make new friends whilst fundraising.
Ian Barr
Co-leader of the team, Ian has completed five cycling fundraisers for Doddie’5 Gr4nd S7am team so far… and is looking to do his sixth when the team go down under in July.
Norman McLennan
Norman runs Orkney Renewables with his wife, whilst having a wealth of experience in cycling, and running- having completed the West Highland Way six times.
Roger Baird
An ex-Australian Lion, Roger now runs a start-up company. However, in his spare time, he has completed several fundraisers to fight MND with the Grand Slam team and cares deeply for sustainability.
Huw Davies
Huw is the Vice President Harbert Management Corporation (London Office) who played over twenty matches for the England National rugby team. He enjoys weight lifting and raising money for good causes when he is off the clock.
Neo Combarro
Neo is a gardener by trade and an Ironman athlete in his spare time, having done several long distance cycling and running events to raise money for several charities.
Paul Volley
Ex-England rugby player, Paul Volley is now the Vice President of Global Professional & Executive Risk who has done numerous cycling fundraisers for Doddies, including the recent Ride to Rome.
Andrew “AJ” Jones
Recently retired, AJ is someone who loves sports; specifically rugby, golfing and cricket and watching matches. He hopes to make new friends and memories while doing something for a good cause.
Ben Glenister
Ben is a cycle mechanic who runs Benchmark Bikes and has a great love for the outdoors and cycling. He has been all over the world for his work, for this event he wants to support the cycling team through the trip.
Paul Breust
While retired now, Paul has been actively involved in planning the collaboration between FightMND and the Doddie’s Grand Slam Team and is there to make sure everything goes smoothly.
Paul Ansell
Paul will be working behind the scenes to make sure everything goes as planned, as well as riding for this event. This will be his 5th ride for FightMND.
Richard Wells
Hailing from Launceston in Tasmania, Richard played a key role in the success of a previous ride with Pedal4Cure Fight MND, where over $750k (AUD) was raised for the charity.
Stuart Steele
One of our volunteers, from Canberra, and has done rides before with Fight MND previously. This time, he will be driving one of our support vehicles, making sure the team get from A to B in one piece.
John Fox
John created the concept of riding to raise funds for Pedal4Cure FightMND, and since 2017 has raised over $1.6 million AUD over four rides. In this ride, he’ll play a supporting role driving one of the support vehicles and a cameo rider between Melbourne and Sydney.
Bluey Harper
Bluey is a lead driver who has kept the cycling team safe for the last four rides for FightMND, and will be making sure our riders stay hydrated and healthy while taking part in this ride.
Terry Smith
Similar to Bluey, Terry has provided vital support on each of FightMND’s past rides in the safety/support vehicle, he’ll be keeping the team’s morale up with his dry humour.
Peter Hyde
Peter has completed four rides with FightMND in the past, so this will be his fifth - though quiet, he is excited to saddle up with his Lockhart mates for this event.
Michael Farquhar
Michael is a Project Manager, who has undertaken several of Rob Wainwrights 6 Nations cycling challenges, fundraising in aid of the My Names Doddie Foundation. On this particular challenge Michael is providing planning & logistical support to the team.
