Introducing Norman McLennan

Norman runs Orkney Renewables with his wife, whilst having a wealth of experience in cycling, and running - having completed the West Highland Way six times.

Employment:

From 1993 for 20 years, I travelled the world installing specialist Satellite equipment for an American Company, Walton Enterprises. Worked extensively in Eastern Europe, most notable memory was getting arrested in Gorgy Park, Moscow as a vagrant because I had no ID (I kept my passport in the Hotel safe) The ID I had was my British Cycling License (which they didn’t accept) (5 Hours in the Cells before being release without charge.) Orkney Renewables Ltd, established by myself and my wife Amanda in 2011, specialising in the installation and servicing of wind turbines, solar panels and electric charging points in Orkney, Caithness, and the Scottish Mainland. Orkney Television Enterprise, family-owned Electrical retail business established by my Grandad and a few other businessmen in 1958.Ran by my dad up until he retired in 1999, now being run by myself and my wife Amanda, hopefully one or all my 3 Kids will be taking over the various businesses in the coming years Orkney Rooms, Established by Myself and my wife in 2020 it consists of a 4-bedroom town house “Nord House” & a 7-bedroom complex “The Old Print Works” short term luxury holiday/accommodation lets, both in the centre of the main town in Orkney, Kirkwall.

Sporting or Endurance Achievements and Notable Charitable Events:

Ran 6 x 96-mile West Highland Way Race, best time: 17 Hours and 42 Minutes.
Ran the North Coast 500 in a relay raising over £5,000
My Names Doddie Foundation we have has raised over £60K.
