Introducing Simon Russell
Bio:
At 52, I’m dusting off the old legs for the Doddie Triple Crown Ride, a challenge close to my heart. I’m an ex-rugby player and former bike racer who somehow survived 254 years in restaurant management (well, at least it felt like that!) before spending five far more enjoyable years with Zwift, cycling daily as part of the job.
These days I’m a driving instructor in Edinburgh and a proud father of four, still fuelled by a love of sport, stubbornness and the belief that life’s better when you keep moving forward, whether that’s on two wheels, four wheels or pure determination.
Taking on this ride is my way of reconnecting with the sport I love, honouring Doddie’s incredible legacy and pushing myself for a cause that matters deeply to the rugby community. If I can raise some smiles, and even better, some funds, along the way, all the sweeter.
